Amid interest from other elite European teams, such as Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, Manchester City is expected to add American wonderkid Cavan Sullivan to their academy.
The Athletic claims that Sullivan, a young international for the United States, is in advanced talks to relocate to Etihad Stadium.
Sullivan, who is 14 years old, has not yet accepted a professional contract with the Philadelphia Union and is currently a football player in the team’s development system.
But now that Pep Guardiola’s treble-winning squad is expected to win the race for the teenager’s contract, it looks like his future will be in England.
Man City eager to spend on youngstars
According to the source, Sullivan won’t be eligible to play for City until he is eighteen (18) and will instead be leased to Lommel SK, a different City Football Group Club, in Belgium when he becomes sixteen.
Jim Curtin, the Union’s first team coach, praised the teenager after he helped the under-15 team defeat rival teams like Real Madrid and Arsenal in the Generation Adidas Cup in April of last year.
So far Man City have beaten a huge competition in the race of signing the young star.
In addition to his achievements at his club, Sullivan led the US team to victory at the CONCACAF U-15 Championships, when he was named the tournament’s best player and awarded the Golden Ball.
Man City has constructed their club through significant transfer market investment, but they can also be commended for their academy development, player development, and ability to attract top talent.
Sullivan is ready to have an influence on the game and has attracted interest from some of the best teams in Europe. Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Borussia Dortmund are all mentioned as being interested in hiring him.
