If the Blues can come up with a bid of £86 million, they can sign the World Cup winner this month.
Chelsea can sign Lautaro Martinez this month, putting an end to their much-needed search for a reliable No. 9, but they will need to present Inter Milan with a sizable offer in order to win them over.
The Premier League team just paid a high price for a striker. Romelu Lukaku, Martinez’s colleague at Inter Milan, was the reason for the Blues’ exorbitant £100 million expenditure.
After his return to Stamford Bridge, the Belgian did not live up to expectations and was loaned to Inter Milan. He is currently a Serie A loanee at Roma.
Two and a half years after Chelsea signed players like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nicolas Jackson, and Christopher Nkunku, the team is still lacking goals. Martinez is now available for purchase for the right price, according to the Italian powerhouses.
The west Londoners are interested in the Argentine striker, according to transfer insider Dean Jones’ SportsLens piece. Additionally, he asserts that Martinez would be open to moving to the Premier League.
Jones claims that a price of between £80 million and £100 million would be enough to persuade the Serie A team. Martinez had previously been linked to a transfer to Chelsea’s rivals, Arsenal, and Tottenham, who have both kept an eye on him.
Jones wrote:
“Insiders have told SportsLens that while the terms of a new contract with Inter are not complete, it is likely he commits his future to the Italian giants.
“But a January bid would throw such a moment into fresh uncertainty. Inter are suffering tricky financial times and have a tendency to cash in on high profile players to improve their situation.”
It’s no secret that Chelsea wants to recruit a big-name striker, and Victor Osimhen of Napoli is the second player that Chelsea is being linked to.
